Product Description

Calcium is an essential mineral involved in maintaining healthy bones and teeth, supporting muscle contraction, nerve signalling and normal blood clotting.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, calcium plays an important role in supporting your baby's development and maintaining your own bone health. While your body adapts to meet these demands, getting enough calcium through your diet remains important.

This product provides 370 mg of elemental calcium from DimaCal®, a branded form of dicalcium malate, in a convenient capsule format.

We chose DimaCal® as a non-carbonate source of calcium and developed our capsules with digestive comfort and ease of use in mind.

Recommended for: Adults looking to supplement their dietary calcium intake, including women trying to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding who may not consistently obtain enough calcium through food.

How to Use

Take two capsules daily with water, with or without food.

Calcium can be taken at any time of day. Choose a time that works for your routine.

If you also take iron supplements, take them at a different time of day to minimise potential interference with iron absorption.

If taking prescription medication, check with your healthcare practitioner about appropriate timing.

Safety and Interactions

Allergens: No allergens intentionally added. Manufactured in a facility that also processes eggs, milk, fish, soy, gluten-containing cereals and nuts.

Keep out of reach of children. Not intended for use in children. If accidental ingestion occurs, contact a healthcare provider or poison control centre.

Please consult your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare provider before use, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take regular medication.

Do not take Moment Daily Calcium if you have:

  • A known allergy to any ingredient.
  • High blood calcium levels (hypercalcaemia), unless specifically directed by your doctor.

Speak to your doctor before taking Moment Daily Calcium if you have:

  • Kidney disease or a history of recurrent kidney stones.
  • A condition affecting calcium metabolism, including disorders of the parathyroid glands.
  • Any chronic medical condition requiring ongoing treatment.

Medication and supplement interactions:

  • Iron: Calcium may interfere with iron absorption when taken together. Take iron and calcium supplements at different times of day.
  • Thyroid medication: Calcium can reduce the absorption of levothyroxine. Your healthcare practitioner can advise on appropriate separation.
  • Other prescription medications: Certain antibiotics, osteoporosis medications and other treatments may interact with calcium supplements.
  • Other calcium supplements: Consider your total daily intake from food, prenatal supplements, antacids and other calcium-containing products.

Possible side effects:

Calcium supplements may cause constipation, bloating, gas or nausea in some people.

Excessive calcium intake can cause elevated blood calcium levels, which may lead to increased thirst, frequent urination, nausea or weakness.

Do not exceed the recommended serving. The established upper intake limit for calcium from all sources is 2,500 mg/day for adults aged 19-50, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, and 2,000 mg/day for adults aged 51 and older.

This is not an exhaustive list. Please refer to our full Patient Information Leaflet for more detail.

Benefits

Healthy Bones & Teeth
Calcium is a major structural component of bones and teeth. Adequate intake helps maintain their strength and supports normal skeletal development.

Muscle Function
Calcium plays an essential role in muscle contraction and relaxation, contributing to normal muscle function throughout the body.

Nervous System Function
Calcium helps nerve cells communicate by participating in the release of neurotransmitters, the chemical messengers involved in nerve signalling.

Normal Blood Clotting
Calcium contributes to the normal blood-clotting process, helping the body respond appropriately to injury.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Calcium supports the development of your baby's bones and teeth. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, your body adapts to meet these demands, making adequate dietary calcium important for both you and your baby.

Frequently asked questions

We take our supplements seriously

Product

Why is calcium important during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Calcium is needed for your baby's developing bones and teeth, as well as normal muscle and nerve function.

During pregnancy, your body increases calcium absorption to help meet your baby's needs. During breastfeeding, calcium is also supplied through breast milk, with your body adapting to support this demand.

For women aged 19-50, the recommended calcium intake remains 1,000 mg per day during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Getting enough calcium from food, and supplementing when necessary, helps meet these nutritional needs.

Why does Moment provide 370 mg of calcium rather than 1,000 mg?

The recommended daily intake of 1,000 mg includes calcium from both food and supplements.

Many women already obtain a meaningful amount of calcium through their diet. Supplementation can help make up the difference when dietary intake is insufficient.

We chose 370 mg as a practical supplemental dose, delivered in two capsules, rather than attempting to provide your entire daily calcium requirement through supplementation alone.

The amount of additional calcium you need depends on your diet and individual circumstances.

What is DimaCal®, and why does Moment use it?

DimaCal® is a branded form of dicalcium malate developed by Balchem.

It combines calcium with malic acid and provides approximately 29% elemental calcium by weight.

We chose DimaCal® because it offers a concentrated, non-carbonate source of calcium suitable for capsule formulations. We also selected DimaCal® with digestive comfort in mind.

As with any mineral supplement, absorption and gastrointestinal tolerance can vary between individuals.

Can't I get enough calcium through food?

Absolutely. Food is an important source of calcium, and many people can meet their daily requirements through their diet.

Good sources include milk, yoghurt, cheese, calcium-fortified plant milks, calcium-set tofu and certain fish eaten with their bones.

However, dietary intake may be lower if you avoid dairy, eat few calcium-rich foods or have dietary restrictions.

This product offers a convenient way to supplement your intake when needed.

Why does Moment offer calcium separately?

Calcium takes up considerable space in supplement formulations, which can limit how much is included in a multivitamin.

Offering calcium separately provides flexibility. You can consider your dietary intake and any calcium already included in your prenatal or multivitamin before deciding whether additional supplementation is appropriate.
